Recurring invoices

Automate recurring invoices.

Recurring invoices generate a new invoice on a schedule you choose — either emailed to the client automatically or saved as a draft for review.

Updated August 2026

01

Create a recurring template

Recurring invoices are set up from the Recurring panel in the Invoices workspace. They are a Plus and Pro feature.

  1. Open the Invoices workspace and click Recurring.
  2. Choose the client and pick a frequency: Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly.
  3. Add the line items, tax, and the due-date window for generated invoices.
  4. Save the template and confirm it shows as Active.

02

Auto-send or review drafts

Each generated invoice is either emailed to the client automatically or saved as a Draft for you to review and send yourself.

  1. Turn on Auto-send to email each generated invoice automatically.
  2. Leave it off to save invoices as Drafts and send them manually.
  3. Check the Next run and Last generated columns to understand the schedule.

03

Manage a template

Templates can be paused, resumed, run now, or ended from the Recurring panel.

  1. Use Pause to stop future runs without deleting the template.
  2. Use Resume to restart the schedule.
  3. Use Generate now to trigger a cycle early.
  4. Use End now to stop the template permanently.

Notes

Active recurring templates also feed the Upcoming Recurring Revenue list on the dashboard, so you can see expected retainer income at a glance.
